We're gonna need to upgrade

Happy times my annual camping weekend with the lovely Paul and Tina had arrived, I was between jobs and I had a physical challenge in store.

A severe weather forecast meant nothing to me - this weekend in the Lake District was going to be ace. Tina had reminded me that the reason the Lake District had lakes was because it rained a lot - so I felt prepared. Waterproof trousers had been purchased. I was feeling outdoorsy.

Not quite sure I was ready to be airlifted to safety like those camping in Wales were that weekend but you know that was a different country.

Off we go - Ruby was ready, music was on, sweets were opened. 6 hours later we arrive at the ridiculously beautiful Wasdale Head campsite. P&T got the awning up in the rain, we waterproofed up and settled in.

We went to sleep with the sound of torrential rain outside. Paul had drips every so often land on his nose ( this made me giggle like the little sister i am) Morning comes and the weather looks set in for the day - so we go exploring - off to an owl sanctuary and a local castle. More rain. I do what i do best in situations like these - throw money at it and upgrade. One pod secured for the night - party for Hartley. BBQ plans are cancelled- but then a miracle it eases up, Paul gets the burgers on. Scott, Anna and Becky get involved in bananagrams. We spend a lovely evening in the yurt.

Next day dawns, beautiful sunshine, we head up Scafell Pike. Eating Tina's packed lunch at the top admiring the view is pretty damn special. We couldn't have picked a better day for it. Well bloody done us.

England pulls it out of the bag when it wants to......
